CITY NIGHTS

I hear the sound of falling rain
yet your dues unpaid remain the same.
The quench of cars, the flashing of lights
as darkness descend be ready to fight.

The cries of pain as decency takes flight
the crime confounds me this can’t be right .
The strain, sorrow! mixed with pity and spite
I’m drained it’s in vine, it’s been a hell of a night.

Wind blows the city with girt. it gripes!
dust muffling the screams of the people’s plight.
The trash in a swirl as it hurls at my feet
the frowns! on the faces of people that I meet.

I step over those who lie in the gutter
I am lost to understand I’m stuck! so I Sutter.
The many shades of gray that hide the city
those looking for warmth you wont find any.

Children in the streets with no shoes just feet
It will make you blue, what the hell will we do.
Nothing can be done so which way do I run
with dawns on the rise fighting tears in my eyes.

Heading down the avenue any hope for me or you

I'm a father, friend, and a family man, I believe in right and wrong, I understand the value of standing on your own. I have an iron will with a poet's heart, a belief in God is where it starts.
