LET US EXPLORE SINGAPORE

It was then in 1819 Sir Thomas Stamford comes to town,
this diamond-shaped oases in Southeast Asia of all places.
The crown in a 60 islet chain 85 miles north of the equator,
the pride of the East India company once apart of Malaysia.

Sovereignty! it’s 1824 when the British Empire got Singapore,
the British was acting quick turned to Straits Settlements in 1826.
Now Crown Colony 1867 British fully claimed this slice of heaven,
in 1942 Japan said war! looking for more with the fall of Singapore.

Three years of occupation with a name change in the situation,
light of the south” what dose it means, death! can you hear it ring.
Singapore stood it’s ground now returned to the British Crown,
now it’s time! Singapore must be free, the British say yes in 1963.

Freedom was right, Singapore’s might! Asian tiger now takes fight,
with five million people or more, 3rd in per capita income for sure.
Yet worst in income equality! Singapore’s poor is now in jeopardy,
governmental sin in this two party pretend, cause one never wins.

Singapore now urbanized it’s original vegetation has falling in demise.
I would have love to seen you in your lush days, yet then still I pray,
Maybe one day I’ll make it your way, until then this poem now ends.

I'm a father, friend, and a family man, I believe in right and wrong, I understand the value of standing on your own. I have an iron will with a poet's heart, a belief in God is where it starts.
