I’ve been in Vietnam for 27 days this world away
with such wonders surprise! the tears in my eyes.
A little old lady carrying two baskets with that stick
she was hunched so far over while moving forward.
I was at a lost, what to do emotions flowed through
with such a burden lying upon such frail shoulders.
Reliance burned bright lowered camera I had no right
turning away dealing with eternal conflict in full sway
The beauty that’s Vietnam and brutal yet with open arms
while taking pictures of young dancers in a street display.
a young lady with child approached me in a Vietnam way
a smile on her face no fear in her eyes that was my surprise
She wanted me to have a picture of her baby my guest maybe
we couldn’t speak each bowed and smiled it had to be for me.
She didn’t wait for me, pictures in the back of the camera to see
I looked down to bring the pictures up! she was gone I was struck
Sitting a moment to reflect on this beauty and brutality in full conflict
a little old lady being beaten into dust, a young one with so much trust.
